Confidential assessment, counseling and referral services are provided by credentialed and licensed clinical counselors. A combination of individual, family and group counseling can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the patient. Programs are available for school age children and up and although the core mission of Circle Park is to address substance related issues, services are available to address non substance abuse related behaviors.

Screening

The screening process is a brief meeting between the clinician and the patient (usually 15 – 30 minutes) to discuss current behavioral issues with a goal of scheduling the patient for a full assessment if needed or referring them to a more specialized agency.

Assessment

Individuals seeking services receive a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. They are placed in appropriate services at Circle Park using needs-based criteria established by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

Care Management

Every patient has a primary clinical counselor, who works closely with the patient and their family, group counselors, and when appropriate, external agencies, to ensure that the patient’s needs are fully met.

Individual Counseling

Although most patients progress more quickly with group counseling, individual counseling is also used when appropriate, either alone or in support of group work.

Group Counseling

Most often, group counseling is the treatment of choice. Treatment groups are driven by participating patient’s goals and tend to rely heavily on Evidence Based Practices (EBP) such as: Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model (TREM), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), The MATRIX (MI and CBT), etc.

Family/Couples Counseling

When one member of a family or a couple is struggling, regardless of the reason, – it affects everyone in the relationship. Family and couple counseling strives to increase healthy communications and allow everyone’s perspective to help shape new coping skills and develop stronger relationships within the family.

The Chrysalis Center is a unique women’s residential treatment facility for women diagnosed with a severe substance use disorder and their young children. Designed to provide a nurturing therapeutic environment, Chrysalis offers an opportunity for children, up to the age of 10, to continue to live on-site with their mothers for 90-120 days depending on eligibility.

This approach offers women the opportunity of seeking help without the fear of losing their children. Children residing at the center receive therapeutic services while their mothers gain a new chance at life … a chance to break the cycle of addiction.

The goal of ADSAP is to help those with a DUI or like offense to lower their risk of future alcohol and drug problems by attending recommended education/treatment services at Circle Park.

Department of Transportation (DOT) — Circle Park provides assessment, education, and treatment services all under the oversight of a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) to satisfy DOT requirements for employees with alcohol and drug related offenses.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Circle Park contracts with a number of local businesses to serve employees and their families. Services include help in developing alcohol/drug policies and procedures, training for managers and other employees, drug testing if the company requests it, and most importantly, counseling whenever it is needed. Supervisors can refer employees if they exhibit on-the-job behavior or performance problems, or employees and family members can seek help for personal and behavioral challenges privately and confidentially on their own. The EAP is designed to keep good workers productive and to head off personal and family problems before they affect employment.

Specialized Services: Circle Park BHS also offers a variety of other specialized services specific to age, gender, etc. as well as: Gambling Edutherapy,  An eight – week structured group, along with assessment, individual and family therapy, and continuing care, constitutes Circle Park’s Gambling Treatment Program. In group, individuals learn about addictive behaviors, the effects of gambling and community support resources and develop early recovery and relapse prevention skills. The group curriculum is intended to help individuals clarify and cope with maladaptive behavior patterns and is not in itself, and intensive treatment modality.

Pretrial intervention services for the 12th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office (OBI): OBI is designed to divert alcohol and drug offenders with potential for rehabilitation from the criminal justice system by offering treatment in lieu of judicial penalties. The program is particularly effective for youthful offenders first offenders, and others whose offenses are clearly related to alcohol and other drugs.

Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT)

Another NEW service that Circle Park BHS is also very excited to be able to offer on-site to all their appropriate treatment patients is MAT – utilizing Suboxone, Subutex, and Vivitrol. This is due to partnership with Ohio Valley Physicians Group (aka South Carolina Primary Care). Through this on-site partnership, patients can also be assessed for psychotropic medications, and patients/family members can access general medical care.

• Peer Support Specialist Services – (NEW service to Circle Park BHS which capitalizes on the experience of staff, who are in long term recovery from substances and who can help treatment patients navigate the treatment/recovery process and assist in a variety of ways with possible “glitches” along the way).
• OPOID EDUCATION NARCAN DISTRIBUTION (OEND) – WE CANNOT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR OUR PATIENTS WHO USE OPIATES AND THEIR CAREGIVERS TO GET EDUCATED ABOUT THIS LIFE-SAVING MEDICATION AND FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE MEDICAID/PRIVATE INSURANCE OR CANNOT AFFORD IT – WE CAN ASSIST YOU IN GETTING NARCAN AT NO COST.

TRAUMA INFORMED CARE (TIC)

Whether you receive services at our main campus facility or the Chrysalis Center, we want you to know that everything we say and do for our patients and their families and for each other as staff strives to support the five elements of TIC. These elements are as follows:

• Safety: ensuring physical and emotional safety
• Trustworthiness: being reliable, making tasks clear, maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Choice: prioritizing patient choice and control
• Collaboration: including sharing of power with patients
• Empowerment: prioritizing patient empowerment and skill-building

Circle Park recognizes the individual needs of patients vary widely and that trauma based or associated issues often accompany the need for services. Every effort is made to ensure that a safe, supportive and nurturing environment is provided from your first greeting to completion of services.

MAKO Medical Laboratories (MAKO) is located at Circle Park’s Main Campus and is a drug-screening laboratory which utilizes the CLIA Waived 12-panel and 15-panel urine drug-screen tests. All drug-screens are observed and laboratory analyzed to yield either qualitative results (12-panel – positive/negative results) or comprehensive results (15-panel – levels for each substance tested). MAKO provides drug test for employees, treatment patients, the court system, the Chrysalis Center, and the 12-panel qualitative test is also available to the general public for a reasonable cost by request.
